Bengaluru Techie’s Tragic Suicide: Family Alleges Harassment by Estranged Wife and Judicial Corruption
A Bengaluru techie’s tragic suicide has exposed alleged harassment, financial exploitation, and judicial misconduct. His family demands justice, citing a 24-page death note detailing years of suffering from marital discord, legal battles, and corruption. The case sparks a broader call for fair legal reforms and mental health awareness.

In a deeply unsettling incident, 34-year-old Bengaluru tech professional Subhash Atul died by suicide, leaving behind a harrowing 24-page note and an 80-minute video detailing years of alleged harassment and emotional trauma. The tragedy has sparked an outcry, with his family seeking justice and raising concerns over systemic corruption and the lack of legal protections for men in similar situations.
The Incident
Subhash was found dead at his residence in Manjunath Layout, Bengaluru, under the jurisdiction of Marathahalli police station. A placard reading "Justice is due" was discovered near his body. He had reportedly been battling severe emotional distress stemming from marital discord, legal battles, and alleged financial exploitation by his estranged wife, her family, and, according to his note, a judge involved in one of the cases.
Before his death, Subhash recorded a detailed video that has since gone viral, in which he explained the reasons for his drastic decision. He claimed that the money he earned was being used to strengthen his adversaries, creating a cycle of exploitation that he found impossible to escape.
Family’s Allegations
Subhash’s family has leveled grave accusations against his estranged wife, Nikita Singhania, her family, and a judge in Uttar Pradesh. His brother, Bikas, expressed frustration with the judicial system, saying:
"Justice is only possible in a corruption-free legal system. Men, too, deserve legal protection. If such exploitation continues, many will lose faith in marriage and the judiciary."
Subhash’s uncle, Pawan Kumar, accused Nikita and her family of extorting money under the guise of child maintenance. Initially demanding ₹40,000 per month, the amount was allegedly increased to ₹1 lakh. Kumar claimed that Subhash was humiliated during court proceedings, with one instance where the judge allegedly laughed when Nikita suggested he should take his own life.
Subhash’s cousin, Bajrang Agarwal, added that the family filed numerous cases against him, further exacerbating his emotional distress. He said:
"When he stopped meeting their financial demands, the disputes escalated, pushing him over the edge."
The Suicide Note and Video
Subhash’s death note provided a detailed account of his suffering. He shared it widely through emails and WhatsApp groups linked to an NGO he was associated with. According to the note, Subhash married Nikita in 2019, and the couple had a son in 2020. The note described ongoing harassment, financial extortion, and legal battles that drained him emotionally and financially.
Allegations Denied by Nikita’s Family
In response, Nikita’s uncle, Sushil Kumar, denied the accusations and claimed their family had no contact with Subhash in recent years. He insisted on their innocence, stating:
"We were not present at the scene. The matter is in court, and we trust the judicial process to reveal the truth."
Ongoing Investigation
A police team has traveled to Uttar Pradesh to question Nikita and her family. Preliminary investigations suggest Subhash was grappling with multiple legal cases filed by his wife, contributing to his emotional turmoil. Authorities are probing all allegations, including the family’s claims of judicial corruption.
Public Outcry
The case has triggered a broader discussion about the mental health impact of protracted legal battles and the need for reforms to ensure fairness in marital disputes. Advocates for men’s rights have called for a balanced legal framework that protects all parties from undue harassment.
Subhash’s family is determined to pursue justice, hoping their tragedy will lead to systemic change and prevent similar incidents. His brother Bikas poignantly remarked:
"Let this be the moment we rethink justice for all, regardless of gender. We must ensure no one else is pushed to such despair."
